Helping the Visually Impaired by Providing Advocate and Prodigy Talking Meters and Strips

Western Diabetic Supplies is working with the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Palo Alto and Santa Cruz, Ca to provide Advocate Redi-code and Prodigy Autocode talking meters and strips for their more than 1400 clients.

These meters will help these blind or visually impaired clients manage their diabetes and minimize diabetes complications by allowing them to maintain regular blood glucose testing when they are home alone.

These meters require NO CODING and use only a small amount of blood (.7 microliters) through capillary-action strips, then audibly present the blood glucose readings in either English or Spanish.

These meters and strips and covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal (which covers many of Vista’s clients).

Western Diabetic has always accepted Medicare, and is in the application process to be a network provider for Medi-Cal. We’ll keep you posted on our progress there.
